Technology is most useful when it answers a clinical question. New Path Vision combines examination findings with imaging and diagnostic testing selected for the patient, rather than treating every test as a substitute for clinical judgment.
Our philosophy
Some patients need routine examination and prescription care. Others need more detailed retinal imaging, optic-nerve assessment, corneal analysis, dry-eye evaluation, functional vision testing, or retinal-function testing. The doctor determines what is appropriate based on symptoms, history, age, risk factors, and examination findings.
No single image or device tells the entire story. Diagnostic technology supports the examination; it does not replace the doctor-patient relationship.
Inside the practice
Retinal imaging
Ultra-widefield retinal imaging helps the doctor document and examine a broad view of the retina. Imaging complements the clinical eye examination and does not eliminate dilation when dilation is medically indicated.
Retina & optic nerve imaging
Optical coherence tomography creates detailed cross-sectional images of structures such as the retina and optic nerve, giving the doctor another way to evaluate and follow changes over time.
Cornea & ocular surface
Corneal analysis can provide additional information about the shape and surface of the cornea when the examination, contact-lens needs, or ocular-surface concerns call for a closer look.
Functional vision testing
Visual field testing measures areas of central and peripheral vision. It may be used when the doctor is evaluating conditions that can affect the visual field or following change over time.
Retinal function
Electroretinography measures electrical responses generated by the retina. It may be used when the doctor needs functional information that structural imaging alone cannot provide.
Dry-eye treatment
Intense pulsed light is one of the in-office treatment options available through the Dry Eye Center for appropriately selected patients. A dry-eye evaluation is required to determine whether it fits the treatment plan.
Dry-eye treatment
In-office thermal treatment may be used as part of gland-focused dry-eye care when the examination supports that approach. It is one option within an individualized treatment plan rather than a universal treatment for dry eye.
Technology with a purpose
If advanced testing is appropriate, the goal is to connect the findings to what you are experiencing and explain why those findings matter. Dry-eye technologies are discussed in greater detail inside the Dry Eye Center.
